Hopefully, you have heard of Winston Churchill. He was England’s Prime Minister during World War II. He encouraged his country nightly to not get discouraged during the dark times of daily bombings by the enemy. England did not give in to Germany. Years later, Winston Churchill was asked to give a Commencement Speech. He walked slowly and laboriously up to the stage. Went up to the microphone and said, “Never, ever ever ever ever give up.” That was all he said. He walked back to his seat with a standing ovation. He was an anchor for many.

The intensity of your mood can’t last forever. This too shall pass. Also, don’t make yourself more vulnerable by doing any substances of any kind when you’re hurting. You need your most rational mind to fight!

Perspective: It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.

Tony was one of the juvenile delinquents on the boat with me. He was large with a constant scowl on his face most of the time. In truth, he scared most of us. But, when we landed, he got down on his knees, kissed the sand, and said loudly, “Man, maybe we should all just love each other.” That’s a new perspective gained from a storm.
